A New Song

In the darkest hours of the year
when all hope seems lost and gone
the fire of freedom diminishing
the tears rolling on and on

“We all live in fear!”
the people cry out in the dark
“There's no way to go on”
the people’s anxiety increases
the people are losing their song

Others fight against us saying
“I’ll Make America Great Again!”
yet the people don’t have the same rights
the people are becoming oppressed again

But there shines a light in the darkness
a sword cutting through the stone
the promise of a new day dawning
the hope that we’ll survive this storm

The melody begins to flood our minds
we know what is right and true
everyone should be equal
everyone including me and you

Standing together as one
we can survive this dark prison
we can work towards a new age
without the hate

We stand for a better future
We stand against the wrong
We are the people of America
We are singing a new song
