Joan Roger
Today is Enough
I sit on the old brick patio
with a red-leafed maple,
foliage budded tight,
and try to untie knots
of not enough stitched
in my shoulders.
A plump robin bathes
in a nearby fountain.
I sip tea and brush aside
dead leaves with the sole
of my shoe, surprised to find
primroses blooming beneath.
