Hello Dollies
I rarely bake—plain dark chocolate and chocolate-covered caramels and raisins are all I need—but for decades of Decembers I've made “Hello Dollies.” There are many names for these and many variations, but here's mine.
Ingredients:
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup vanilla wafer or graham cracker crumbs
- 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup flaked coconut
- 1 cup broken walnuts
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
Melt butter in 8” square pan. Sprinkle on cookie crumbs, chocolate chips, coconut and nuts. Pour the milk on top. Bake at 325° for 30 minutes. Cool for several hours before cutting into squares.
