Peaches Resist Consumption

TEMPE, AZ—Two peaches on the kitchen table refuse to ripen. While fragrant with promise and graced with the colors of the sunrise, the fruits stay unyielding to the touch for days after purchase. Said the woman of the home, “My husband tried biting into one, but his powerful teeth barely dented the skin.” Her husband added, “we are beginning to believe these are not what they seem.” At present, the peaches remain silent and impenetrable. Their presence renders the small apartment as immense as a great sphinx.
